Kicks VS Mary Janes

Anyone who knows me, knows I haven't worn a pair of shoes with shoe laces in like 8 years. Also they know I have abnormally small feet. So while I am picky, many times I feel thankful if I can find a slightly too large shoe without animals, glitter or bows. My usual go to are children's mary janes from Keen. I own 3 pairs. I've been thinking about adding to the collection but horrors of horrors they've started adding flowers cutouts to the new ones. The only options left on Zappos anyways are these too large, last seasons Keens (size 3... I usually wear 2's for this company):So what's a girl to do? Also... there is something else on my mind. The boy (thank god boy starts with "b"--I was having a hard time thinking of a "b" nickname for him: Buster, Bear, Bunker, Bat, Bro, Break, and Beak[-er] are all not right/totally inappropriate in some way... though I'm sort of partial to Buster, name of my all time movie star crush) is a sneaker fanatic. He owns more than I do of any kind of shoe, period. In fact we went around record and shoe shopping the other day and I think he's so anxious to get me into a pair of kicks that he offered to buy me some (he's also ridiculously sweet to me).

However my unusual shoe size triumphed even as I was about to practice shoe infidelity and get an admittedly cool pair of sneakers. Since I've gotten home I've been secretly scoping these:
I don't know if I could rock the silver shoes (with laces!) but I like the graphic feel of them. I feel kind of overwhelmed though by the vast array of shoes available via the internet. I might just shut down and get these velcro Chucks instead:Black, no laces, cheap. The safest possible world. I may be unadventurous but I'm no fool.

Also, if you're not listening to this, well, why aren't you?

What was I thinking?--revisited

So I'm back in Chicago and freezing my little Bean off. This
happens every time but seems even worse because the heating is clearly turned down in my apartment. Not only am I wearing a scarf and coat and wool socks, but clearly thinking about sleeping at the boy's warm warm house for yet another unproductive night.

I've been knitting socks with this yarn in hopes of raising the spirits if not the temperature. It's a gorgeous golden orange (colorway called ginger cinnabar) that screams California, sunsets and general warmth and good feeling. Wish me luck. (Also tell me to stop knitting and start working on my papers already.)

Also watch this. I've been obsessively replaying it.

Letter to Little Bean's Boyfriend

Dear little Bean's boyfriend,

Thank you for letting me kidnap your dear girl for Valentine's Day, only to let her endure rain, inhale feathers (see below), dodge flailing pillows (count pillows below), and hop from bar to bar. She was such a trooper!

With the help of friends, we also stuffed her silly with chocolate, vodka, prickled beets, chicken feet, more vodka, curry, and some chicken liver crostini.

All in one sitting.

Just kidding.

Anyhow, I return her to you now, all in one piece, albeit damaged.

Smiles,
dumb Bunny

P.S. We had *tons* of fun!

Strings of Sugar

dB and I are together on the West Coast briefly. As celebration of this momentous occurrence--a reconvening of both old friends and dissimilar minds--we did something terribly mundane and started a blog. Normally I'll be blogging from the snowy center of the country about film, music, knitting, random craft projects and general bitching about grad school and the weather. dumb Bunny's activities are a mystery to everyone, including her, but I hope she posts the cute stuff she makes to encourage me.

But tonight dB decided we needed an evening activity.
So after too many of these:

...and some encouragement of of third party (not to mention the cancellation of craft night),

Boiling sugar mixture turned into these "doodads":

My atomic swirls:

Unfortunately, I was dumb bunny tonight. After not burning myself I instead got cut by hardened sugar cleaning up. Thank goodness dB has cools bandaids (she did surgery on the head to remove the brains and make it fit better on my finger.)

Oh, also if it's not obvious, this is lB, not dumb Bunny. I'll probably be the verbose one and have lots fewer pics in the future.

So that's it for now. We'll see if this gets updated ever.
HELLO WORLD!
